# Install Dashprep

> Add Dashprep from your Shopify admin and understand the read-only access it requests.

Dashprep installs like any other Shopify app — from your Shopify admin. There's nothing to download and no server to set up.

    Open the Dashprep listing on the Shopify App Store and click **Add app**, then **Install**. If you were sent a direct install link by our team, it takes you to the same place.

  <Step title="Review the access Dashprep requests">
    Shopify shows you exactly what the app can access before you approve. Dashprep only ever *reads* your data (see below). Click **Install** to approve.

  <Step title="Land in the onboarding wizard">
    After installing, Dashprep opens inside your Shopify admin and starts a short [onboarding wizard](/getting-started/onboarding). This is where you tell Dashprep about your store and it sets smart defaults for you.

## What Dashprep can access

Dashprep requests **read-only** access. It never writes to your store — it does not change, cancel, or create orders, products, or customers.

| Access             | Why Dashprep needs it                                                                    |
| ------------------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Read orders**    | To show what needs prepping and track each order from open to complete.                  |
| **Read products**  | Product names, types, and variants — used to route line items to the right prep station. |
| **Read customers** | Customer names and delivery addresses shown on order cards.                              |

  Dashprep reads your store data into your own private prep board. Your team works from the board; your Shopify store is left untouched.

## What happens next

As soon as onboarding finishes, Dashprep syncs your existing collections, products, and orders in the background, and creates your admin login for the prep board. New orders then stream in automatically from that point on.
